23. If you enjoy Greek mythology, The Mythic Tarot is great

Each suit follows a story in mythology, making meanings of cards easier to discern, but Liz Greene & Juliet Sharman Burke, the cocreators are both astrologers (astro.com - lots of free reports & charts there) & Jungian Analysts.

The way I learned to read tarot was to immediately verbalize the first thoughts I had after flipping a card face up. Worked like a charm. Lol

Also, imo, the type of info you are likely to pick up from a deck is often dependent or at least heavily influenced by the intention of the person(s) who created it. Example: The Mythic Tarot tends to reveal psychological dynamics, whereas Hanson Roberts tends to show more mundane aspects of life.the Inner Child deck has absolutely gorgeous artwork & is based upon fairy tales...

Loads of great books are available on tarot & goodness knows the symbology holds infinite potential for interpretations, but you will learn by watching Maryanne & others do readings.

Once you choose a deck, you can practice by laying out a few cards, then formulating a sentence about what you are seeing.

It's an interesting journey. Enjoy!

And, of course, our community here is always open for discussion on such matters. I for one would welcome a hearty discussion on the tarot!

Sallie Nichols' book Jung and the Tarot, an Archetypal Journey is exceptional if you happen to be a fan of Joseph Campbell.
