gym alway come in groups of two or three. I've never seen one of the 'big lifters' by himself.

People there by themselves who have asked me for a spot have not been using but 200 - 225 lbs. on bench press. The ones by themselves who do squats always seem to use the Smith rack (which I don't like to use BTW). I think I'll be ok.

On the Smith rack/machine, I cannot get both hands far enough back to grasp the bar after I get it in the right place on my traps - we think it might be because the guide bar is at a slight angle. Don't have that problem on the long bar on the squat rack.
