One of my guitars (a Takamine) is tuned to Am7. Low to high, CACGCE. Jimmy Page used it on song like Bron Yr Aur & Tangerine. Maybe on 4 Sticks, too. Another is in DADGAD.
One of my 12 strings is in Dm & another in D. Mostly for stuff with slide.
Funny story for you. My BiL (since deceased) played a little guitar. One day several years ago he's in my rec room & takes the Takamine off the wall. I tell him he should grab the Martin instead.
He Saud "Oh, is this super expensive?" I said no, the Martin is the expensive one, and added "It's just that you can't play chords on that one."
He gets done playing a few songs and asks "What do you do with that guitar then?"
I took it off the wall and played it. Yes, I was playing chords.
He said "I thought you couldn't play chords on that guitar." I replied "That's not what I said. I said YOU can't play chords on it!"
