The very earliest stuff less so, but still seems fake
I don't think he's that good a singer & I found his "influenced by this & that" to be a shortcoming, not a strength; as he isn't really committed to the way he plans to sing a tune.
Later, I thought he adopted the worship of his cult members like some shady televangelist.
The "effort" in his shows seemed fake, with the silly karate stuff, and I don't hear effort in his voice.
And, I take out on him the over-the-top fealty of too much of his fandom.
Finally, two of his hits are among the creepiest lyrics ever, and his fans stupidly swooned over words they didn't actually listen to.
I think that's plenty, without getting into technical criticisms.

Bobby Darin-Mack the Knife. It was one of my favorite old songs and I saw it was number one the year I was born.

I have always been grateful that I was born after the invention of rock & roll. 1961 has some real classics.
