views about religion, some churches will be leading the fight against fascism. They will stand up for LGBTQ rights, naturalized citizens, children born in the US of immigrant parents, people needing food, clothing, medicine, and housing as the fascist agenda takes hold.

There were churches in Germany that gave into Nazi leadership. But there was a coalition of churches and their clergy who spoke out against Nazi policies, worked secretly with underground resistance organizations, hid people who were Nazi targets and helped smuggle them out of the country. They were known as the Confessing Church, composed of Lutherans, Baptists, and other Calvinists. Some were forced into exile. Some of their leaders were imprisoned in concentration camps where they died of disease, starvation, or execution. A few survived the camps.
