17. I am beginning to believe that religion is the biggest con in mankinds history

I can imagine the rich and powerful sitting around 6,000 years ago and bitching; "these poor fuckers are always asking for food, money, shelter, etc., "What if we gave them this invisible sky being that controls everything?" "If we can convince enough of them that their 'true reward' comes in their afterlife, they won't pay attention to how they're getting fucked-over in this one".

It's a win-win!!
