Why wait? [View all]

Here and elsewhere opinions are posted that have suggested that we wait for the outcome of the midterm elections before we take action to save our democracy.

Why the wait?

The Ds should declare – today and every day until the 2026 election – that every citizen has an automatic right to financial dignity and health care and that they will introduce legislation for universal basic income and universal health care. We can bring our own Sharpies to this discussion and draw diagrams showing that the funding for UBI and UHC is only possible at this time in our nation’s history thanks to F47s gutting other social programs and thanks to the $3.6 trillion the 1% no longer needs as tax cuts.

Keep the campaign simple by following the Rs playbook. The fewer details they present to the voters the better their chance is for passage of their legislation.

This is one way forward.
