The Way Forward

(824 posts)It is not because I take AOC's words "personally".
I made the post because I don't want the Democratic Party to make mistakes. I think it is a mistake to lose sight of the "big tent" party that they have been in the past. I don't see how the Democratic Party can be anything other than a "big tent" party. It is compromised of people from all walks of life, blah blah blah. We are drawn to the Democratic Party for their policies and the accomplishments they have made, as well as the accomplishments they strive for. Some vote for the Democratic Party because it represents "the lesser of two evils".
I think some of the rhetoric about remaking themselves is leading the Dems to a misguided paradigm shift. The idea that anyone would think they should remake themselves as brawlers, because that supposedly wins election, is some of that misguided rhetoric. (I don't believe that the Felonious Fucking Grifter won the election in a legit way.)
I don't expect the Democratic to "represent" me - I'm still going to vote for them. I want them to stop making mistakes...or looking for new mistakes to make. I want this Democracy to exist for future generations. I don't think identity politics is the way forward.
