(1,089 posts)That makes sense. I tend to stick to mostly mainstream news sources and don't normally do social media stuff like Facebook or Twitter as many here follow so I haven't been exposed much to what many of Bernie's most ardent supporters and surrogates have been saying or doing. Only reason I've seen any lately is because of all the links peeps post here...a real eye-opener, boy. Anybody who admires or is sympathetic to Putin and his Russia is in no way, shape or form a true "progressive" in my book since everything about him is so antithetical to its ideals. They are truly "illiberal" as you said in a previous post.
I guess that's the problem with any extremist movement...the farther you go to the left or right on the political spectrum the more your available numbers naturally drop off...and so the more "true believers" have to resort to equally extreme measures. Worst-case is armed rebellion or violent revolution...short of bloodshed you have disinformation, deception, demagoguery, propaganda and all the other tricks in the book. Guess that's why so much of what I'm seeing lately in these Twitter links people are posting fit that description to a T.
Progressives only make up 40-45% of the Democratic Party and perhaps 15-20% tops of the entire electorate. Take out all the "normal" non-radicalized non-Bernie Bros Sanders supporters who simply like some of his policies but are not averse to switching over to another good candidate and those percentages drop even further to not much at all. Probably explains why many of these tweets coming from the hard-core Sanders camp resemble a cesspool of chaotic cockamamie crap...which is exactly the reason I've shied away from it in the first place...LOL.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
