14. Insulin doesn't behave consistently, sadly. :( I'd offer him anything you'd offer another friend.

But ... have sugar (soda/treats etc.) around in case his blood sugar gets low. Hard work can drop blood sugar.

My simple suggestion would be to have submarine sandwiches and soda - with and without sugar - to offer him. No need to overthink it. Just have a balanced lunch - even thin crust pizza and raw veggies should be fine.

My husband is insulin dependent (type 1 diabetic) and has been since his tween years. He eats anything he wants but watches his blood sugars. He's a senior citizen now and is doing well overall. *knocks on wood*

It's very thoughtful of you to ask.
