2. I bought an additional monitor that had a bit cheaper strips

I use the Accucheck to record/chart my morning numbers for the dr. That's the one she wrote a script for the strips for, but apparently insurance only covers 300 strips in a year since I'm on Metformin only. She feels I should be only testing in the a.m. I feel safer eating to the monitor - especially when I try new foods or combos. I bought a Contour Next monitor. Results seem to be within 10-12 points of the Accu-check, but the Contour strips run about 25 cents per strip rather than over a $1.

I just got my A1C rechecked. I was at 8.4 in January. Last week it came back as 6.4. The dr. was ecstatic and told me to keep doing whatever I was doing.

I agree about the differences in what individuals can eat. My nutritionist kept pushing oatmeal on me, but it spikes me something fierce - even with added protein and fiber.
