Just got back from a bike ride. [View all]

After I was 1st diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes 23 years ago I began bicycle riding. At one time I was riding 125 to 150 miles per week. I had really good sugar control and had to stop medication. But then it seemed like I had less and less time to ride, eventually I stopped altogether.

Well I am retired now and have spent the last 3 weeks or so getting my 2 bikes in running order. I've been getting a short ride in most every day. I'm beginning to get legs again and double my short ride with an uphill portion about 3/4 of the way. I had strength in my legs as I approached the top, but I must admit I was breathing hard.

My morning sugars have improved, if this keeps up I may be able to reduce the Lantus (insulin) I take (80 units per day).

I would like to hear from any who have improved their sugar levels with aerobic exercise.
