you can't upload an avatar from your iPad, which is why you're getting an error message. I'm guessing that the error message is wrong because the avatar upload function was built a very long time ago, so it doesn't understand how to interface with an iPad, and spits out the "File too big" error because it doesn't know what else to do.

In order to upload an avatar you have to do it from a desktop or laptop computer. Sorry about that. This is something I need to add to my long list of fixes and improvements.
