(135,425 posts)"Moderator" tribalism only worked if one agreed with the moderators who happened to be making the decisions. "Juror" tribalism is a bit more of a pig in a poke; it's like the lottery.
Jurors aren't anonymous to the admins, though. The admins know plenty about the jurors/alerters just from their votes/alerts--I imagine that information is helpful when deciding who needs a tombstone and who doesn't.
I don't think they're prepared to discourage "flame bait" OPs, though. They're clickbait, and clickbait earns money. They gotta eat and buy shoes for the kids. This is their "job" where it's simply our amusement, so I would imagine if they had to make a decision between limiting discussion to that which is measured and orderly and reasonable, and buying groceries every week, they'd pick the latter.
When it gets too weird I go for that HIDE THREAD button. It's like a Lower Your Blood Pressure clicker!
