Even if for the sake of argument the devil is real free will still applies. If the devil tempts man to engage in heinous acts and they fail to stand true to their convictions and faith, the blame rests on the shoulders of those who acted. The devil may tempt but man acts. I would include the catholic church it self and the leadership in that statement because they placed pride over the safety of children. If the devil is real he's laughing at this accusation because he knows that pride goeth before the fall.
