2. When you read some of the doomers

(whether here on DU or elsewhere) you get the idea that they think the world is a static place, that Nature will only react through climate. While it's true the climate will change, so will the rest of life, and not by simply dying out.

One thing that came to mind when I read that article was that this is one way Nature has for creating a carbon sink. With all the CO2 in the atmosphere already, and the possible "acidification" of the oceans, what better way of trapping that carbon than through plant life?

I read something recently about another (and excellent) method of growing food inside a building. Here's the story (LED Vertical Farming). If we ever implement something like that, I would hope that we'd let unused farmland go fallow and then begin replanting all the forests we used to have on this continent. Return to the growing of hemp, and we can replace the need for trees for anything other than as carbon sinks and for ecological renewal.
