Some folks involved in this destructive controversy want to push for the appearance of bi-partisan consensus; the controllers to wrest control from its "Banzai" banners; the pro-2A side wants negotiations based on quid pro quos. "Both sides" (such as they are) want legitimacy.

McAuliffe is an old gun-controller, but even he may tiring of the 49-to-zip scores his side suffers constantly.
