Hell, it's largely what Trump is running on. A general sentiment of "I FEEL SCARED AND THOSE OTHER PEOPLE ARE THE PROBLEM", a blithering disrespect for due process, transparency, and any other form of process designed to protect the country from authoritarian/monarchist rule, and a hostility towards anyone who gets in the way of "solving problems". Authoritarians often seem to come down to this form of sneering bedwetting, simultaneously jeering at anyone who is critical of their politics and wringing their hands about the Terrible Threats which require Strong Solutions.
