Pike County Deputy Accused Of Accidentally Killing Neighbor [View all]

WAVERLY, Ohio - A tense moment in a courtroom on Monday between a former Pike County Deputy and the father of the man he’s accused of accidentally shooting and killing.

Joel Jenkins faced a Pike County judge Monday on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Sheriff Charles Reader of Pike County says Jenkins contacted the work officer just before midnight on Thursday and said he was showing a weapon to a friend and there was an accidental discharge.

Investigators say 40-year-old Jason Brady died of a gunshot wound to the head. He lives across the street from Jenkins.
