For 4th of July, we'd start giving him Benadryl (1/4 tsp) the night of the 3rd and then again on the 4th. He did so much better once we switched to this. He still didn't like fireworks or firecrackers so would go and lie in the bedroom with his head under the bed. But he was sooo much more calm and didn't piss on the rugs in fear anymore or shake in fear. The vet recommended the Benadryl treatment and amt. Astro probably weighed 70 lbs.
