1. One of my mee-maws had a fig tree in her back yard.

She made the BEST fig preserves in the world. I miss those.

Also, I learned that wild fig trees utilize fig wasps to pollinate and make the fruit. They dissolve the wasp with special enzymes and it becomes part of the fruit. Commercial fig producers use another method, but I think the dead wasp goo in wild figs is so cool. That's probably what made my mee-maw's figs so good.
