The first of the local Dungeness crabs are available-and no more expensive than last year- so we’re having crab with local romaine lettuce, a small loaf of sourdough that was still warm when I bought it this morning, and a dressing that I still need to make. I’ll make a stock with the crab shells, and there may be enough crab left over for some bisque tomorrow.

And cherries for dessert. I got some Chilean ranier cherries for $4/lb today. I don’t know what the catch is, but local ones are $10 to $14 a pound during their short season
