16. Bear Mountain Bridge

It was a lovely and quiet evening. We were anchored about a mile south of the bridge off Iona Island. The views were idyllic and the sunset and dusk were colorful and calm.

In the morning, I saw something very strange. It must have been at the tide change but the current in the middle of the river was flowing south while the current in our cove was in opposition heading north. The result was a half-mile long intersection of the clashing currents creating waves and eddies. Of course, Pelagic was anchored right in the middle of the mess!

I’m fortunate to have these experiences. They’re moving, memorable and majestic. Remarkable.
