What is your quintessential autumn dinner? [View all]

Mine is acorn squash with sausage filling the cavity and baked. It's simple and delicious. We'd grow acorn squash in our garden that was so sweet that it never needed brown sugar and no butter because the sausage flavored the squash. Simple, delicious, and the very essence of fall.

When I was growing up, my dad was a cop and worked the night shift from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. (a real nightmare when I was a teen trying to get away with stuff, lol.) My mom worked in an office, so my dad would have dinner on the table for us when mom came home from work. This was one of his fall specials.

Good memories.
