well, here's a twist for ya. [View all]
so just ordered my ancestry dna kit, which gets me back into my tree. and gets me docs, so i hope to get the passport in motion.
here's where it gets crazy. i've been taking voice lessons for 2 yrs now, and i have learned a whooooole lot of irish songs. a friend of mine from the hood, a rocker, posted on evilbook about irish music at the beach at the end of my street. he doesnt know the songs, but has been playing w them to keep his chops up.
so i went and checked them out. they swear they arent a band, but they've been doing this weekly for a couple decades. for tips.
i'd seen them at my local irish pub a while back at how quiet a room full of irish ppl could be. they had no singer. the did black velvet band. period.
all kinds of folks sit in. so i told them i'd be back the next time w a list. (it's every other week.)
and i did. despite showing up pretty unprepared, they walked me through, figured my keys, and fed me the line w a smile when i blanked.
they were so kind, and i'm now officially a singer in an irish band.
they all do gigs, esp the boss. i'm hoping after we get to know each other, i'll get invited on some gigs. and honestly, i could use the cash these days. i've already been invited to the next edition of a regular thing where they take over a commuter train, ride to the end of the line, and entertain both ways.
now here's where it gets fun. the boss has been to ireland to perform several times. he likes singing w me, so mebbe if something comes up i can worm my way in.
at any rate, i'll go home a singer in an irish band. how cool is that?
