Rough night last night. [View all]

We had friends over for dinner. Sitting out on the patio on a warm night really made me want to have some wine along with everyone else. I've been clean for two years now, and I haven't had any major urges in a while. Then I thought how the evening would have progressed in the past. I would have gotten buzzed. Then, after our friends left and my wife went to bed, I would continue drinking until I got super hammered and would pass out in front of the tv. So instead, I did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen while they were outside. I came out and sat with them from time to time, figuring they really wouldn't notice I wasn't there. And the conversations were somewhat wine fueled, which can be pretty boring if you're not drinking. So I got through it unscathed. Whew!
