It's pretty fucking amusing that liars trying to greenwash fossil fuels as "hydrogen" put up a slick video with a featuring a map of Scotland when talking about building a risky hydrogen pipeline in Isreal.
I don't watch slick propaganda marketing videos put out by the fossil fuel industry to greenwash their product as "hydrogen," of course, since I'm a scientist and not a credulous rube, but it's possible that the video has something to do with Israel but who the fuck cares.
Hydrogen is made by the reformation of fossil fuels.
I certainly wouldn't want to live near a pipeline pumping filthy hydrogen, since for a trivial and useless industry hyped decade after decade for no practical result other than waste, hydrogen systems blow up regularly, because of the poor physical properties of the gas.
Here's a nice video, not a slick but dishonest and stupid marketing funded by the fossil fuel industry about a consumer hydrogen explosion:
Of course, there's science and scientists and there's marketing and marketeers from the rah, rah, rah fossil fuels advertised as "hydrogen" scam.
From the scientists,
materials scientists:
Zahreddine Hafsi, Manoranjan Mishra, Sami Elaoud,
Hydrogen embrittlement of steel pipelines during transients, Procedia Structural Integrity, Volume 13, 2018, Pages 210-217.
Note that the authors are referring to mixing hydrogen with its source material, natural gas and still it's a risk. It's beyond stupid to convert methane with an exergy loss to hydrogen, a gas with far worse physical properties, and it's simply a bald faced evil to pretend that the practice is either clean or green.
We expect contempt for science from the Trump people; it's bothersome, but not entirely unexpected to have contempt for science on DU. We do have cheap marketing here.
