Exactly what happened with the mortgage loan scam.
And
These student loans were also turned in to debt bonds, and like teh mortgage bonds, the buyers of these bonds, mostly pension and insurance funds, have no idea of how many good loans and bad loans are mixed in the tranches of bonds they bought.
The people selling teh bonds have no concern about quality, they will claim they were told everything was good.

so look for another crash in bonds down the road.

Same with car loans to bonds to POOF!
