'In their studies of the Civil War, 5th graders learned about DC's Emancipation Day and made freedom art this week. On Tuesday, a re-enactor will visit 5th grade classes to engage with the students portraying a freed slave from the Act for the Release of Certain Persons Held to Service or Labor in the District of Columbia on April 16, 1862.'
