Yes, we've been here before, many times before.

The City is kind of a special case, since it's exempted by both law and charter from ever having the books opened by Parliament or any other regulatory agency in the UK. It's why it remains a prime place for crooks from El Chapo to Putin to launder their dirty money into accounts in tax havens across the planet.

I'm convinced that's why Russia was so keen on having Brexit passed. The financial wizards in Brussels were sniffing around a little too closely to The City and were making Putin and his vassals nervous.
