people being able to recognize lies told in the media, especially concerning news pertaining to Latin America.

My point was about sources. The first snippet is from a disreputable source.

The second is from a reliable source and as you noted, more responsible. Being that Mr. Smith is expert on the subject of US-Cuba relations of course his reporting is more responsible than click bait machine reporting from the UK.

Vetting sources is more important than ever in this insane era of “infotainment news” and blatant sensationalism in order to generate clicks and views (aka: money)
