I love my 2006/07 white iMac 24" too much. [View all]

Yes, too much.

It died a couple years back and I got a newer iMac but it just wasn't the same. The white iMac took me back to a time when Apple computer were totally unique. High style and superior function. I couldn't get rid of the old white iMac just yet.

I got a new hard drive for it on Saturday, 1 Tb Western Digital. After popping the case open and swapping out the drive I was optimistic that it could be revived. I booted it... logo... then white screen with an active cursor and it hangs there...same as the old drive. Dang.

It won't boot in recovery mode and froze when starting the new install (snow leopard). Seems like a hardware issue other than the drive which to me means, I can't fix it.

But god help me I love that stylish case. Is there a way to swap the guts (CPU, drive, motherboard) with a different iMac (like the non-beautiful grey cased iMacs)?
