1. Before throwing the whole thing out I might try

The old unplug and reset trick. Rub the bottom of the cartridge on a cloth before reinserting.

Look for the most recent printer driver to download.

Double check if the "new Epson" cartridges are from a recognized source.

If bought at a retail, return and get new.

If bought on the net, that may be the problem.

Have an older Epson here and resisting upgrading or buying new. So far, no problems.
