After refusing to discuss the Naura option for the past twelve months, they are now sitting down to talk about just that. It makes Gillard look weak, and heightens the feeling that she doesn't really believe anything she says. It's all about political gamesmanship.

It was Howard who started the demonising of "boat people" for his own political ends, and now Labor is caught in the trap. As far as I know, we are the only country that is trying to insist on offshore processing. I do think people who come her seeking asylum need to be carefully vetted, but do it here, and do it quickly.
