If you want to see small government, come to South Carolina. The judicial branch is irrelevant, they're appointed by the legislature. The executive branch is nearly irrelevant, they're under the thumb of the legislature. You can try to get your issue addressed by the legislature, but it only takes one senator to kill any bill. Get on the bad side of any one of our 46 senators, and your issue is DOA.

That's small government. One person can veto anything. Is it any wonder we're still stuck in Reconstruction?
