Years ago, during a conversation with an ex-Sheriff from a rural county, I asked him what had been his scariest moment in law enforcement. He said it was his confrontation with a rabid cow.
I laughed, but he told me to think for a minute what a normally placid, several hundred pound cow could be like if it were totally out of control and looking to do damage.
He said when they arrived on the scene the cow, which had been locked in a barn, was making a hell of a racket and trying to break through the walls. He said 3 men went in with a shotgun and rifles, and it took several rounds to put the animal down. The inside of the barn was wrecked, and basically had to be rebuilt.

I just hope cows never evolve to the point that they realize why humans give them free food and shelter. The cow apocalypse would be very serious.
