compared to 2010 but we still have miles to go before we get there

A neighboring precinct chair called me the morning after to discuss what we can do to recruit more PCs in our State House District, and raise the turnout rate across the district.

We both worked harder than we have in prior years; both of our precincts are dependably blue but turnout could improve. Had all of our precincts had chairs to help motivate voters we might not have an "Election Integrity" wacko as our incoming County Judge. The man is crazy.

Beto nearly killed himself in 2018 and again this year hitting all 254 of our counties. He drew great enthusiastic crowds and showed up at early voting sites all over the state, especially colleges. The fact remains that we did not turn out enough voters state wide, especially in our metropolitan counties to offset the guns, god and gays voters. If our voters had turned out on election day at the same percentages as early voting, it would be a different story.

Turnout is the key here. We often say that Texas is not a red state; it is a non voting state
