"At this time, the morgues at Mercy Medical Center are close to capacity, but Mercy does have an emergency mass casualty cooling blanket system for use to increase our capacity that can be deployed if needed for short term use," according to Cindy L. Hickey, vice president of public relations and marketing.
"Mercy is working with the Stark County Emergency Management Agency to address this issue. We also thank our local funeral homes for their rapid responses during this time."
Bertin said local funeral homes have told him they also are full.
His office is seeing a record number of deaths this year, more than 600 as of Sunday. Last year the office had 535.
