Remember Cuomo for years used the IDC turncoats who were D but caucused with the GOP. Only after a sustained campaign to primary most of them did Cuomo start to act more liberal. I worry as the GOP could pluck this office if Cuomo slinks in via our instant runoff system. I hope enough people know to not even give him a place on their lower votes. This is a big problem with Ranked Choice voting as it can be gamed by big money interests, that is how Mayor Adams slunk in while not being the top vote winner in round one. Approval voting is better for primaries as the top one or two (in jungle primary states) vote getters win. You in a primary pick all the acceptable choices and whomever wins. Also approval doesn't need to be processed over extended timeframe the way Instant Runoff does.

These seem to say approval voting is more gameable by a well funded campaign.
