Infighting tears at N.J. Democrats [View all]
This is a good example of how republicans can sit on the sidelines and watch us destroy our own party.
Still, some partisans worry that party infighting, and an everyone-for-themselves ethos, will improve Christie’s chances for a landslide win on Nov. 5 and boost his prospects for the presidency in 2016 — while showing just how discombobulated the Democrats have become in a traditionally blue state.
And while the legislative map favors Democrats, some are not taking comfort in it. They fear Christie’s coattails could help the GOP gain some seats in the Legislature. A GOP takeover is not even beyond the realm of possibility, the biggest pessimists in the party say.

“Christie’s not the problem, we’re the problem,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. of Paterson. “Sooner or later these people are going to wake up, maybe it will be July 21 or 22, and say that, ‘Hey, this could affect the legislative races more so than we thought.’Ÿ”

Twenty-six of them – including the powerful party brokers in the Democratic heartlands of Hudson and Essex counties — have already pledged their loyalty, money and get-out-the-vote muscle for Christie.
