Get the Facts: Nebraska's paid sick leave ballot initiative [View all]

If Nebraska voters pass Initiative 436, employees would have the right to legally earn paid sick time off.

Up to seven days per year if you work at a company with 20 or more employees. Or up to 5 days off per year if you work somewhere smaller, like Nodest.

Jodi Lepaopao, with Nebraska Appleseed, is the campaign manager for Initiative 436.

She says there's a misconception about who gets that time and how fast.

"It’s not just handing someone the paid sick days to someone as soon as they come on," Lepaopao said.
