Baton Rouge Metro Councilman Ryan Heck, who is running for a state representative seat, acknowledged Thursday on Facebook that his name appears on a list of Ashley Madison clients, but said he had signed up for the site as a "joke."
Heck declined to comment when contacted by NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.
In a Facebook post being shared on social media, Heck, a Republican, denied he had used the site beyond providing his email address. Ashley Madison only requires an email to view parts of the site, but requires a credit card purchase to connect with people.
"Dumb thing: went to Ashley Madison as a joke 5 years ago," Heck wrote. "Smart thing: Never went back."
Heck ended his post with the hashtags #sleepingoncouchtonight and #smokinghotwife.
