I'm a big Star Trek fan, and while too young to have seen the original series "live," I watched each series after as it premiered, with the exception of DS9. A show set on a space station did not appeal to me. Thirty-plus years on I only recently started watching it. And, while I'm enjoying it, it isn't the same as being with these characters for years on end, recapping episodes with friends the next day, and anticipating the next season while waiting through a long summer.
In other words, it doesn't seem to resonate with me as much. It's like microwaving a burrito and earing it at the sink versus preparing and sitting down for a multi-course meal. Either way you get fed, which is the point, but it seems like some enjoyment is lost in the process. My .02.
