Gosh - you wrote such a beautiful description of this photo, so I hate to burst your bubble somewhat …..
I saw this container of sea glass in the gift shop wing of a farmer’s market, probably a couple years ago, and I thought the glass pieces were cool looking, so I bought it! I had no purpose in mind for them whatsoever.
This morning I was doing a tracing on my new light pad and saw the container of sea glass along with all the other junk and doodads sitting on the shelves near my art table, and wondered what they’d look like on top of the light pad. So this was the result!
Alas, I did not go on a beach vacation to find them ….. 
Someone else did it for me!
