I found the Z8 out of the box to be "hot", overexposed. I also shoot manual and auto ISO, and no matter what I did, as you say, the camera would just run the ISO up, very frustrating. I settled on -.3EV and have been satisfied, assuming I didn't change anything else I've forgotten about.(-.7 was way too much)

I used the FTZ with the F 200-500 and was not impressed with focus speed and accuracy. Very satisfied with the Z 180-600, even with the TC2 which I never take off. I have been locked into aircraft photography for the past year, using the aircraft focus function, and now that I have almost recuperated/reconstructed my garden after two hurricanes, and the weather is much cooler I'll be trying the animal focus function soon.
