Music Appreciation
In reply to the discussion: I'd really appreciate it if people in Music Appreciation would limit themselves to a maximum of 10 OPs a day. [View all]highplainsdem
(56,746 posts)a lot of those songs are good, period. Most DUers are older (I don't like to use the word "old" because many of us older adults are still young at heart, staying in shape, learning new things, trying new things, and NOT GIVING UP). Not only is it normal for most people to prefer the music they heard when they were younger, but for baby boomers there's a strong case to be made that classic rock has never been outdone, for a number of reasons - a huge boomer audience, lots of radio stations and especially independent radio stations finding and supporting new artists, record stores doing the same, and our generation's determination to try new things and break down barriers in all directions.
But it's good to see newer music here, too. And by "newer" I'd include music from artists who might've been releasing music for 10 or even 20 years or longer, but whose music would still be new to many if not most people here.
For that matter, a lot of recorded music going back a century will still be new to most of us, because none of us have heard all of it.
Nor is it likely any of us have heard all of classical music, though there's a separate DU group for that.
And there's an entire world of music out there with traditions and classics and new artists most of us aren't very familiar with, if we're aware of it at all.
So we're going to see a mix here, and should.
Btw, as long as I'm posting about newer music (as in recent decades) and also justifying loving classic rock, I'm going to link to my thread for Kaleo's I Walk On Water, which is an incredible newer song with a classic rock sound:
