31. Singer 503 Rockateer is the best, has heavy meatal gears.

I bought one brand new in 1963 and sewed on it until it was ruined in a fire we had in 2020. About ten years ago, my kids got me a new Viking. It survived the fire, but it is too slow for me can't sew heavy things like flat felled blue jean seams and leather pull straps on cowboy boots because of the plastic gears in it. . Plus I am a fast sewer and the new machine drives me crazy because I am moving faster than the machine. Every time I have to wait for the software to click, click through its routines. The only good thing about it is that it cuts the thread.

I finally broke down and bought me a used 503, just got it last week, been too busy this last week with family member passing away and funeral, etc. Hope to get my new "old" sewing machine going, I am ready to quilt, have a school house quilt cut out, just waiting for me to work on it.
