44. I was 9. My parents told me. I didn't believe them

And when it finally got through to me, I was bereft cuz I assumed he had died. Bottom line I was hysterical, and the conversation concluded with my mother saying, "We had to tell you because we figured if we didn't you would believe in Santa for the rest of your life."
