The countries who have had female heads of state are significantly more open to the idea from a cultural standpoint than the United States is or has ever been.

The problems we have in that regard are deeply cultural and aren't simply whims brought on by the media. They're deeply rooted in who we are as a nation. Tens of millions of people think that a racist, misogynist, fraud is the best option for the highest office in the land. That segment has *always* been there and blaming that on the media just glosses over reality.
