'Leon Musk': The Mental Cracks Deepen, Trump Gets Musk's Name Wrong at Rally [View all]

On Saturday, Trump took his lackadaisical campaign to Wisconsin in hopes of reversing Kamala Harris’s surge in the state. No doubt his handlers were hoping for a crisper performance from a candidate whose recent public offerings have increased concerns he has lost the plot.

Their dreams were shattered when during a rally, he referred to Elon Musk, the man who would be his government efficiency Tsar, as “Leon”.

Trump is famous for having a lot of friends he never identifies. The consensus was that they were imaginary. But it’s also possible he just can’t remember their names. The dotard was reflecting on Boeing’s problems in returning two of their astronauts from the International Space Station after NASA had deemed the Boeing Starliner unsafe. And he referred to the plan for Musk’s Space X to rescue them.

Addressing the Mosinee, WI crowd — while pointing to his aging 33-year-old Boeing 757 — Trump said: “Boeing, I shouldn’t say anything. There is a beautiful Boeing plane right there. But, ehh Boeing had a little hard time, so they are going to save—Leon is going to send them a rocket. He looks forward to it, that’s all he thinks about is things like that,”

Names can be tough — even for people not in the throes of dementia.

Who amongst us has not run into someone we recognize at a cocktail party, or the like, and completely blanked on their name? Or thought we knew it, but had it wrong? Perhaps some MAGA dead-enders will give him a pass and point out that he had merely rearranged the letters of Musk’s first name. But some people are so well-known that excuse doesn’t hold water. If I called America’s most famous felon Olddan (Old Dan?) Trump, people would question my mental strength or sobriety. And Donald doesn’t drink...More + Comments,
